What is the difference between style & fashion? We had a chance to sit down with the man himself DeShawn M. Bey to get an up-close look & understanding of what style & fashion really is. “Growing up in North St. Louis you had to have some type of fashion sense.” However, for DeShawn he wasn’t always as fashion forward as he is now. Once only dressing in just t-shirts, jeans & Jordan’s, he never had much of a need or desire to step his game up. “My dad would always tell me that I need a suit, I didn’t listen. I don’t even like to dress up” says DeShawn. Until one day he needed a suit for a job interview in a field he went to college for and did not have anything to wear, “at that moment is when I knew that I needed a suit.” After his first purchase, he realized that people treated you differently when you put on a suit. It’s just something about when you have on a well-tailored suit that people show respect for you no matter if you’re rich or not.
Once he understood that fashion is more of a phase that does not last that long he then began to work on his style. “With style it is more about mindset, confidence, charisma & the ability to develop yourself over time” he states.

After realizing how important it is to see yourself a certain way, he then began to build his self-confidence and improve his mindset. Once he reached a certain level of confidence and accomplishment from past businesses. He began to refine his style & dress more to reflect the new path he was beginning.
However, not knowing anything about suits, other than how to put it all together to make it look great, he got into retail working for one of the biggest retailers in the world. Here he began to learn the ins and outs of selling and being up-close and personal with clients along with building a successful business. There he worked as an assistant manager being a student & staying true to his dreams, he began soaking up everything there is to know about how to run a successful high-end clothing business.
Within this process he created the “I AM… wear it with power” custom clothing line. It was created to be the clothing line for the man who is on the path of creating his future based on his newfound knowledge of self. The words I AM are the two most powerful words in any language. Whatever follows the “I AM”, we become. Wear it with power not only represents you wearing the finest garments on the planet but is symbolic for keeping your affirmations you speak over your life in the forefront of your mind when you’re out building your dream(s). There’s literally a message in every suit.
